Web of Science

“Web of Science” is a research platform that enables you to search various databases provided by Thomson Reuters.The databases that Kanazawa University members can use are as follows:

This database owns more than 33,000 academic journal collections in the field of natural science from 1990 to present.

Journal Citation Reports (JCR)

"JCR" is a database that evaluates the importance and influence of an academic journal by the number of times the articles in the journal were cited, the number of citations made from articles in the journal to other journals, and the length of time from publication to the citation of an article in the journal.
Science Edition covers 6,500 journals, and Social Sciences Edition covers 1,900.

Essential Science Indicators (ESI)

"ESI" is a database for research evaluation that provides information on the rankings of numerous researchers, institutions, academic journals, and the data of frequently cited articles based on the number of publications of academic journals and their number of citations gained from the Thomson Reuters database. 


"Scopus" is the abstract and citation database provided by Elsevier. It covers more than 22,500 journal titles from more than 5,000 international publishers. It has over 69 million abstract records with two million added every year. Abstracts in Scopus go back as far as the 1800s and references back to 1970. It covers 100% of MEDLINE data and more than 400 Japanese journals.
