FINDING MATERIALS

Online searches for materials in Kanazawa University can be done using OPAC Plus* on the Kanazawa University Library website.

CIRCULATION SERVICES

University members can use their student/staff ID cards as library cards.
Please use a checkout machine, which is located near the service desk. However, if you would like to borrow/return the following materials, you must do so at the service desk:

  1. Materials with no barcode
  2. Current issues of periodicals and newspapers
  3. Non-circulating materials at each Library

The following materials can only be used within the library:

  1. Reference books
  2. Audio-visual materials
  3. The latest issues of journals

When you want to go into the stack floor (displayed as 中央図書庫,中央図雑誌,中央図○○文庫,中央図四高 on OPAC Plus) of at the Central Library, please exchange your Student Card for a Stack Permit at the service desk before entering.

Your borrowing privileges will be suspended if you have an overdue book.

[Renewal]

For renewal, please use a checkout machine. Renewal is available also at the service desk, through the Library Online Service or by telephone if you cannot come to the Library.

■ Central Library and Natural Science and Technology Library: Renewal is only allowed  twice, and possible only if no one else has reserved the book.

■ Medical Library and Health Science Library: Renewal is only allowed  once, and possible only if no one else has reserved the book.

LIBRARY ONLINE SERVICE

Use of the Library Online Service requires a Kanazawa University ID and password. Library Online Service options are as follows:

  1. User status (e.g. number of checked out books)
  2. Books on hold
  3. Inter-library loan (e.g. Photocopying order from a laboratory, other libraries ,or outside of our university)

PHOTOCOPYING

At the user’s expense, library materials may be photocopied under Copyright Law. To obtain photocopies, you must fill out an “Application Form for Photocopying.”

Fees: 10 yen/sheet (self-service coin-and-card-operated machine). Other fees are specified separately by the library.

REFERENCE SERVICES

1) LIBRARY USE GUIDANCE

Please ask library staff at the service desk if you have any questions about using the library.

2) MATERIAL HELD IN THE FACULTY ROOM

Material not available at each library may be able to be borrowed/photocopied from the faculty room or other libraries. You may get these materials from library staff through the Library Online Service. Fees and postage must be paid by the user.

3) REQUEST FOR LIBRARY BOOK PURCHASE

Any student of the university can make a request for the purchase of a book required for study and placed in the library.

USE OF FACILITIES AND MAKING RESERVATIONS

Library facilities (AV Hall, Group Study Room, etc.) are available for use. You can reserve these facilities through the Reservation Schedule in the Library Online Service. Services may be slightly different for facilities at each library. Please inquire at the appropriate library for details.
