Welcome to the Writing Center & Learning Support

The Writing Center & Learning Support (W&L) assists students with academic activities. Students can consult us for help with writing class assignments, practicing presentations, preparing materials, writing research papers, and practicing for oral and poster presentations. Library Learning Advisors (LiLA) who have undergone exceptional training support students’ learning processes through one-on-one tutoring sessions.

 

    • Central Library Writing Center & Learning Support:
      Polaris Studio, located on the third floor
    • Natural Science and Technology Library Writing Center & Learning Support:
      Reception desk: In front of the library reception desk on the first floor
      Tutoring session room: Global Communication Studio located on the G1 floor
    • 11:30–16:00 (Weekday class days during the quarter) Available session slots vary depending on the day of the week.
    • Library Learning Advisors (LiLA) will provide a one-on-one tutoring session lasting 30 minutes.

    • Kanazawa University students can use either the Central Library or the Natural Science Library Writing Center & Learning Support (W&L). However, please note that the LiLA in charge’s field of expertise, the language used for sessions, and the documents to be consulted may vary, so please check the details provided below.
      *Central Library W&L: LiLAs specializing in humanities fields
      *NST Library W&L: LiLAs specializing in natural science fields
    • For inquiries regarding English for EAP/GS subjects/specialized subjects, students can consult with either W&L.
      • At the Central Library W&L, students can consult about documents in English and Japanese (Chinese).
      • The language used for sessions varies depending on the day of the week and time of day. Please check the combination of languages and documents to be used for sessions and make an appointment at “Writing Center & Learning Support Reservation ” page.

      • Students can have a face-to-face tutoring session with or without an appointment. However, there may be a wait time if they do not make an appointment.
      • If you would like to make a face-to-face consultation appointment, please visit the “Writing Center & Learning Support Reservations “ page and check the available slots.
      • Please indicate your preferred tutoring format (face-to-face or zoom) when making an appointment.
      • Last-minute appointments may be treated as no appointments, so please make appointments by 16:00 the day before.
      • The language and documents used for sessions at the Central Natural Science Library W&L differ. For details, please read “Writing Center & Learning Support Reservations “ page.
      • When making an appointment, please upload the document from the page above.
