Support for open access

Library support for open access(OA)!

1. What is OA ?

To make academic papers freely available to anyone via the Internet.
●Advantages of OA for researchers and universities
・You can have your paper read by more people
・Increases the possibility that your paper will be cited
・Promoting the sharing of research results will promote the creation of interdisciplinary research and innovation, which can be returned to society.

2. How to do OA?

There are two main methods.

(1)Gold OA

A method of making an article OA available by paying an article processing charge (APC) to the publisher.
 There are two main types:
①Full OA: All articles published in a journal are OA.
②Hybrid OA: Part of a journal is OA. The author makes the decision to make the paper OA, and pays the APC if they wish to make it OA.

(2)Green OA

A method of making academic papers, etc. available for free through the repository or website of the institution to which the author belongs.

In general, there are restrictions imposed by publishers such as only the author’s final draft can be published and it takes time to publish.
