The Kanazawa University Library will host an “EU Café” as part of the 2026 Japan–EU Friendship
Week.

We are pleased to welcome Professor Konstantin Plett and Professor Hideki Sato, who will
speak about Germany and the European Union, including the history of Japanese companies in
Europe.
Professor Konstantin Plett, a graduate of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, will also share
recommendations and insights for students considering studying in Germany or at the University
Düsseldorf.

○Kanazawa University Library has the only EU Information Centre (EUi) in the Hokuriku region
as a base for deepening understanding of the European Union (EU). Every year from around 9
May (Europe Day) to July, EUi at 18 universities across Japan organises intensive events to
familiarise Japanese people with the EU under the title of ʻEU-Japan Friendship Weeksʼ.
