Learning Commons – Natural Science and Technology Library

Learning commons provide spaces for group study and various learning activities using materials in the library and computers. Talking is allowed in this area.

You can use this area for…

  • – group study
  • – lecture or briefing sessions on learning, education, and research
  • – lecture on searching resources and resources at the library
  • – classes and seminars, etc.

You can move desks and chairs in each space and can use a whiteboard and projector freely.

Activities like those below are prohibited.
　　　■ solicitation, fundraising and sales
　　　■ loud conversations
　　　■ eating and drinking (a drink with a lid is allowed)
　　　■ disturbing others

The Natural Science and Technology Library’s Learning Commons consist of three studios, the Open Studio, the Global Communication Studio, and the Group Studio.

Open StudioG1 Floor

自然科学系図書館オ ープンスタジオ入口写真 The Open Studio is located on the right side of the space partitioned with glass on the G1 floor.

  • The Open Studio is an open space in which students can study using equipment such as a whiteboard, a projector, desks and chairs.
  • Learning advisers support student self-learning.
  • No reservation is required for regular use.
  • Please submit an application form to the service desk by 5:00 p.m. of the previous day if you want to use part of the studio for a class or a seminar.

Global Communication StudioG1 Floor

自然科学系図書館国 際交流スタジオ入口写真 The Global Communication Studio is located on the left side of the space partitioned with glass on the G1 floor.

  • International and domestic students can communicate here in an everyday atmosphere.
  • You can use this space for self-learning and international exchange using a whiteboard, projector, desks and chairs.
  • By closing the movable wall which is used as a whiteboard, you can create a partition between the Open Studio and the Global Communication Studio.
  • Learning Concierge for International Students (LeCIS) supports international students’ self-study.
  • No reservation is required for regular use.
  • Please submit an application form to the service desk by 5:00 p.m. of the previous day if you want to use a part of the studio for a class or a seminar.
